In which Arn and Ormr effect the escape of the villagers from the husk Hoggvandill.
Having interrupted two raiders, they attacked .. Arn shot them full of arrows as Ormr attacked, taking them down, though taking wounds, losing momentum, and relying on Arn’s archer talents.
After combat, they found themselves in yet another twisting maze of corridors. This cause Arn to reconsider his approach, and he went forward with more haste at the expense of stealth, out of concern for the villagers still in Hoggvandill’s clutches, whose scream they could hear in the distance.
They walk into a chamber .. which is Hoggvandills! His chambers in life have been corrupted by his husk state and Ormr becomes psychically effected by this residual energy. Arn manages to shake off the effects himself, but before he can help Ormr through it Ormr mistakes Arn for an enemy and slashes Arn’s arm with his blade. They quickly leave the cursed chamber, entering the ruined passageways of the upper levels of the stronghold.
After dodging a small collapse in the corridors, they come upon the prison cells in which the villagers are being held. They are guarded by a pair of regular (non-mind-enslaed) raider guards, playing games of gambling and not paying attention.
Betraying their presence, a villager is startled by Arn and Ormr’s entrance, alerting the guards. A flurry of blows and arrows fill the air, as Arn and Ormr work together to make short work of the guards.
They release the villagers from their bonds and cells, and organize an escape towards the docks in the sea cave entrance. They make it to the boats and load the villagers onto the raider’s boat which was still left unguarded and pushed out to sea, successfully escaping into the night.
The villagers with Arn and Ormr make it back to the ruins of Highmark.
Arn gives Ormr charge of the villagers of Highmark to unite them with the similarly unhomed people of Wolfstone, and they part company. Arn heads north to try and find someone who can repair the spear as well as further information on the Scourge of the Mountain
