Faraza, an Elf from Windhaven, was being tormented by a nearby ironstone henge circle. He had attempted to retrieve mystic knowledge from it, but failed as Elves are repelled by the iron that makes up the henge. Ever since he was beset by dreams and visions that caused him anguish and prevented him from performing his blacksmithing duties. Arn Kalapunki took on the task of freeing Faraza from his curse by taking his forging hammer to the circle and attempt to restore balance.

After succeeding at the task, Arn decides to go one step further and break the circle so that perhaps the Elves may enter it themselves. In doing so, he accidentally shatters the alter at the center of the circle, desecrating it and rendering it without power. Unbeknownst to him, it was the circle that was hiding the Elves from Thaugolos.

Now revealed, Thaugolos descended upon the Elves at Windhaven and destroyed the village and its inhabitants with fire. Arn is able to wound the dragon in the battle with Ulvetann, but does not manage to either best his foe nor save the village.

Following the The Desolation of Windhaven, Balathu declared Arn an enemy of the elves and gives him the epithet Havensbane. Arn thus failed to complete this oath.
